Post Family Doctor

As far as family doctors go, how do you guys make a decision when choosing one from the long lists of doctors available? Do you research them first? Do you visit their facility first? Do you base it on availability?

You should look at their previous records. If you think they did good, then choose them.

Most often, family doctors were chosen once you have someone recommend it to you. After the recommendation, you tend to check his/her facilities to see if it's worthy. Then the service comes only third. The reason is because when someone recommends a family doctor, he/she already knows the service he/she provides.

yeah, you should at least be able to hear from friends or other sources about the credibility of that referred doctor..

If you are searching for a family doctor, try discussion to your friends and family. Once you’ve the list of some doctors, call their offices to find further information. Once you find a doctor who meets your wishes, schedule a meeting so that you can meet and talk to the doctor.

I was in a far away place some time ago and I wanted to get my BP and a little check up with a doctor and since I am away in a place where I don't really know anyone, choosing a doctor is very difficult. it would have been easier like I said the first time when you have someone recommend it but if you don't know the place, it is tough. I mean the hospital does not have like portfolios or anything.

I do a research and the capability of the doctor to come in our place for emergency check-up is also what I considered on choosing the right doctor for me and for my family.
