Default why am I loosing my hair?

Hi, I am a 23 year old male.

I am very stressed out and I think that has to do with it BUT I have many questions...I went to the dermatologist and he did not even look at my scalp...he just said "I know why you're here for, you're balding right?" He did not look at my hair at all or anything...and gave me the prescription for Propecia!

First of...I am really stressed. In the last year and a half...I started noticing my hair thinning, and now it got to the point where I can actually see my scalp in the whole upper area. The other thing I've always had a problem with is really bad itching, dandruff and red spots on my scalp. I did started taking Propecia but because is so expensive...I did not buy it anymore.

I've been doing a little research and I've found out that besides hereditary baldness there are other medical conditions that might make you loose your hair. First...hereditary obviously, Psoriasis on the scalp (which is itching, dandruff and red spots like I have).and the last one is Alopecia a medical condition...not really sure.

I gues that I am so confussed and stress because I don't know if I am loosing my hair because of hereditary reasons, or the other problems listed before. The other thing is that if it was hereditary...it would be a much slower process than a year and a half dont' you think? I really think that stress has to do with it.

What should I do? should I try another dermatologist...I really hate when they do that...they don't even check your scalp and they act like you are freaking out too much about hair loss...when they say it's completly normal...how can they know what my problem is if they don't check it.

Many men go bald at a young age, BUT............I would still get a second opinion, just for your psyche, and you are right, he should have checked you.

As the song says, That's life, some people go bald at an early age, some don't, my two sons of 44 and 40 are both losing theirs, I am 70 and still have a full head of hair and need to have it cut every 6 weeks.

your dermatologist I suspect is not a dermatologist. No one should prescribe Propecia without at least asking you a range of questions first about your lifestyle, diet and as a dermatologist. examining your scalp.

I would get a second opinion and I would also visit my doctor. Do not take anything until you have done so. I would say that the stress and scalp problems are possibly related. do not take anything else until you have got a second opinion and do it sooner rather than later. Good luck

hi my friend, i m also of your age and had the same problem. The main reason for hair to fall is dandruff and oily scalp. If you are really serious about gaining your hair back then note the following:

1.You must take bath twice a day.

2.Use Clear shampoo (there are very many kinds. you use the one to control hair loss) to take bath at night before sleep.

3.Use revivogen shampoo (order it in the internet) and use it for morning bath.

By doing so you will experience the difference in one month. If not then something is wrong.

There are some factors that may involve hair loss and these can be heredity, genetic components, hormones, and aging. Excessive physical or emotional stress that is associated with injury, illness or surgery can also cause hair loss. Propecia (Finasteride) became a hair loss treatment after patients started noticing changes in hair growth. Saw Palmetto has become a popular hair natural supplement because of its reputation for promoting prostate health by reducing DHT.

My hair has become very thin as I have quite bad psoriasis of the scalp so I do understand your pain.
To be honest I'm looking towards more natural remedies, so if you're not happy with what your doctor has prescribed, consult another doctor.
And I know it is hard but do try to top stressing, as this does aggrivate the condition.
I hope things work out - good luck.

Have you been depressed or stressed out lately? Might be that. Or maybe the shampoo product your using.
