Default Hair thinning at 19 normal?

I am only 19 years old, but for the past year or so, the top of my head has started to thin out at a rapid rate. The whole crown of my head is so thin that the scalp is visible. I just started noticing the thinning when I was about 18, when my barber brought it to my attention. I keep my hair pretty short, in an effort to hide the thin hair on top, but it seems to be getting worse. I have even been on the Propecia pill for the past six months, but have seen no results I'm happy with. I've seen a doctor and a dermatologist about it, but they insist it's normal, male pattern balding. I can't believe that something like that can start as early as 18! Before, only I seemed to notice the thinness on my head, but now others are starting to notice and comment on it. I am very self-conscious and have even considered shaving my whole head, but I hold on to the idea that hope is still out there. Thinning at 18 can't be normal, can it? I'm desperate here, and my confidence is really suffering.

Use Nioxxin...a little expensive but does the trick. You can find it at ULTA or Hair Salons.

My Dad started going bald when he was 16 years old. At the age of 13 I started to get blonde streaks on the front. By the age of 20 my hair has receded back 2 inches or so. My doctor says it's normal and that I need to just accept it. Wasn't what I wanted to hear.

It's probably hereditary, and there's probably not much you can do about it, sorry. My husband started losing his hair at about 18 or 19, and that's young, but it happens. If a doctor and dermatologist say there's nothing physically wrong with you (there are illnesses that cause hair loss), then I'm really sorry.

BTW, I saw a t shirt once that said

"Bald men don't waste their hormones growing hair."

Some women (this one included) think that a man with thinning hair can be sexy, if styled right. Don't do a combover though, that fools no one.

I seen you men who have started to loose their hair at even younger ages than you. Sorry hon, there's nothing you can do to stop it.

The shampoos designed to do so, work for only as long as you continue to use it.

If you stop for any reason, you will loose more hair and it will not come back a second time

Sorry but yes that is normal if you have balding in your family. My dad was 20 when he started losing his hair. My hubby was around the same age and his brother was 17 and he started balding. Don't worry about it women like bald men!

Your fine don't stress over it. That will make more fall out.
