Default Dr's don't seem to care about my wife

My wife who is 48 has had many serious attacks of a gastrointestinal order over the last few years. These episodes range from sweating and abdominal pain to her passing out, being unresponsive (though she says she can hear us just unable to move or respond), vomiting, elevated liver levels (slightly), diarrhea, profuse sweating and slurred speech.

At first the Dr's tried to pass it off as panceatitis but after so many attack and no other sysmptoms related they went with sphincter of Oddi dysfunctionand insert a stent to allow it to operate. As my wife exhibts sign of poisoning wbefore the stent was installed but now the stent has fallen out and she is having more attacks.

She has already ahd gall bladder removed, so it is not that.

She saw Dr. Silverman in Iowa City yesterday and after his testing he decided well it is not you pancreas or other vital organs, so it isn't IMPORTANT just deal it, and or go see her regular Dr. Graveline in AMES. He REFUSED to see her as Silverman said it was no big deal!

These attacks render her incapacitated and can and do strike very quickly! The nurse told her well the Dr's can give you a note when they happen so people will know what is going on. She can't even speak but she is supposed to give a note? Then they tell her well have a family member give the note. She is a big girl and frequently travels alone for goodness sake.

I mean whatever happened to Dr's who CARE and want to make patients lives better?

Please help

Here is one to consider, which doctors often end up passing off as "mental" because of it's intermittent and perplexing nature: Acute Intermittent Porphyria. I saw a case about it on a real-life medical mystery type show. Here is a list of medical illnesses that sometimes get labeled mental - not medical - but are medical and then there are a slew of others, as it says:

It doesn't even include the multitude of other hard-to-diagnose medical (not mental) problems that doctors often shrug off as "mental" just because they can't figure it out, such as Acute Intermittent Porphyria, and problems causing intermittent gastro-intestinal distress - even symptoms of cancer is often, for a while written off as "nothing"

Well, doctors are only human and they are only there to help us. but, there are indeed some doctors out there who don't seem to be doing their job very well, what do we usually do with this kind of doctor care? we go to another doctor. it may not be as convenient as the nearest doctor but if it is getting the care that you want and need, you'll have to do it.
