I am about 10 weeks pregnant. I have lost about 10 pounds so far because I haven't been able to keep food down. My dr. gave me a RX for Zofran. I just paid about 300.00 for 8 pills so I hope they work. I just took one. How long does it take to take effect? Thanks

oh, man. i'm guessing your insurance didn't cover that. you know, you can file a pre-authorization with your insurance company. your doc will have to fill out some paperwork to see if they will cover that for you... that's what i did.
anyway, it takes about 15 minutes to work and is supposed to last about 8 hours. that's what they also give to chemo patients to combat their nausea. it works with the brain to shut off its signal that you are feeling sick, not with your stomach or anything so, yes, it works. i sometimes feel like they wear off sooner, though, and you can't take another one for 8 hours. anyway, good luck, and i'd definitely look into that with your insurance. and that's generic, i know. my insurance covers 30 pills at a $60 co-pay and i had to have that authorized. |
