I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I've been really sick! My Dr. put me on Zofran (well, the generic brand). Has anyone ever taken this and how did it work for you?

It was like a miracle drug for me.
It was the last step for me before being hospitalized. I tried everything and I was 15 weeks along and hadn't been able to keep food down for four days until my doctor prescribed it. I had also lost a lot of weight. Before that he told me to eat bland foods and try Vitamin B6 and Unisom. They didn't work. He also told me to be patient and it would go away after 12 weeks. It didn't. I took the Zofran for four weeks. It helped a lot. I think I only threw up once while taking it. Once I ran out I was still throwing up a couple times a day but I didn't have any more 24 hour stretches with not being able to keep anything down. I was actually able to gain a little bit of weight. (By the way, don't go as long as I did without calling your doctor. 4 days is too long) I only gained 15 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. Other women would make me cry because they'd say hateful things like "I hate you" Because I was so skinny. I was so worried about my baby and was horribly hungry. It was quite the relief when my baby was born healthy at 38.5 weeks and she weighed 8lbs, 2oz. My second pregnancy started out just as bad, but it actually did go away at 14 weeks. |

I currently take this and have for the past 2 months - There are few things that I would give it up for! I was given this before the morning sickness started so at the first sign of it I took it and kept at it everyday since. I forgot to take it a week or so ago and felt really yucky so I make sure to not forget it again. This pill works like magic for me I hope it will work for you too. I have heard that it doesn't work for some women.
I take the generic. Also, It is very safe to take during pregnancy, talk to your pharmacist if you have any concerns - mine put me completely at ease about it. Good Luck!! |

I took the generic and the real brand. It worked miracles for me. The generic works just as good. Some women take it when they start to get nauseous. I took it every six hours to avoid getting nauseous. I took it religiously from weeks 7-9 and then every other day until week 11. Some women need it throughout their whole pregnancy.

yes, I have the generic version. It makes my very sleepy so I can't take it if I have to drive or work. Take it at home in the evening to see how your body will respond to it so you don't end up asleep at your desk or God- forbid in the car. I'm now 17 weeks so my nausea is pretty much gone but, I hope you feel better... Congratulations!

I did and it did decrease it enough to where I could control the throwing up but It gave me horrible constipation and I started to have heart palpitations, as soon as I stopped taking it my heart regulated and I was not constipated, I decided I'd rather throw up.

Yep. I've taken it. I was still sick but not as sick. What worked the best was a steriod they put me on. But you can only take it for 10 days or so. Then I was sick again.
After that I had to go into the hospital and get a pic line put in to hydrate me. That sucks!!!! I couldn't sleep well and I'd get sicker because I couldn't sleep. Plus I was up every 30 minutes using the bathroom Morning sickness is a good sign that you aren't going to miscarry. Means the hormones are good and strong |
