Glucophage is an oral antidiabetic medication used to treat type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. Diabetes develops when the body proves unable to burn sugar and the unused sugar builds up in the bloodstream. Glucophage lowers the amount of sugar in your blood by decreasing sugar production and absorption and helping your body respond better to its own insulin, which promotes the burning of sugar. It does not, however, increase the body's production of insulin.

I don't know why your doctor said to take this. Try Ovulex.com - ovule x Resources and Information.

Are you eating with your glucophage? I am on glucophage/metaformin (the generic) and if you DON'T eat with it, it will make you feel faint.

In test it has shown that metaformin does make a diffrence in your fertility. I have read that women who are older and on metaformin get pregnant in a lot of cases if they aren't on birth control or haven't went through menopause.

Good Luck and God Bless

i had been prescribed with glucophage when i was diagnosed PCOD, i hadthe same q forthe doc,a nd she said, it has been found effective in treating pco, i am not sure if ot directly helps in conceiving, plus when i was taking it, i would always be sick within moments of eating (i was taking it with my food) i told the doc and she asked to stopit and then restart with once a day on to 2x and 3x a day, but everytime i 'd get a stomach upset, so i stopped it altogether, try low on carbs and fats , thats what it does for you anyways take care, continue the folvites, they are supposed to be gr8 even when you are preparing to conceive.

I don't think the problem is your diabetes its the fact that your man is shooting blanks. Instead of glucophage you might try a little blue diamond known as Viagra. Glucophage is not a fertility drug is for controling insulin.

i've never heard of a diabetes medication aiding in conception...is this something new? what does "ttc" mean? are you diabetic and taking other oral meds for it too? or insulin...i'm a bit confused...if you can clarify this for me, i can ask my doctor about your questions. (he and i are both type 2 diabetics)

**wow, i learn something new every day...very interesting info you all have posted. thanx for the education!!

Glucophage DOES aid conception; in fact, its quite common to use glucophage in conjunction with clomiphene to achieve conception. MOstly it is used in patients who are diagnosed with PCOS.

Hi, I just found out 2 weeks ago that i am pregnant (unexpected!). I have been on glucophage for a few months now for type 2 diabetes. My gyno informed me that glucophage does in fact make you more fertile. Another dr just put a girl i know on it only for fertility. she doesn't have blood glucose problems.
