Default Can you take a supplement to speed up your metabolism if you are taking metformin (glucophage)?

If I can, what's a good supplement to take?

I have before, but like the person above me said...talk to your doc first. you don't want to make your meds not work or have some weird interaction

Do not take anything with your meds w/o consulting your dr. Over the counter (OTC) drugs/supplements can interact with meds and with you being diabetic, you know how serious that can be. The Dr can give you suggestions. But dont risk it on your own, it could be deadly.

i think asking a doctor is the best action you should take.. only they know what works with what.. if you have a family physician, then that's great.. he/she will know what's best for you..

I agree with these folks! Find a doctor you can trust and listen to their advice. You can always research the supplements before you take them, but you should get the initial recommendation from your doctor.
