I'm mainly "tracking down" the medicines that cause insomnia. I found out.....IT'S NOT THE COMP. OR Y/A THAT'S KEEPING ME AWAKE !!! Thank Goodness!!! lol

Zetia blocks the absorption of cholesterol by the body. My sister experienced extreme tiredness and a lot of muscle pain, particularly in some areas (knees and back) where she has arthritis. These potential side effects were not explained to her by the pharmacist or the doctor (I took her to the appointment) and that irritates me. She did ask the doctor specifically and he didn't mention either side effect. I believe I verified the site effects at web.MD, at least I'm positive I found it on-line. She was sleeping 15 hours a day. She modified her diet and quit taking it.

i looked it up and it is a cholesterol drug and no I do not take it.

Hubby had to get off of it. It was given to him as a booster to Gemfibrozil (for cholesterol). Gave him severe stomach aches. Symptoms subsided almost immediately no lasting effects but he didn't report any sleep complaints.

I've been taking Zetia for quite some time and it doesn't keep me awake. Also, it does a better job than anything else I've taken to keep my cholesterol in check and for that alone I wouldn't care if it kept me up every night. Zetia is the only one of the cholesterol lowering drugs that doesn't give me really bad side effects, probably because it doesn't work in the liver. I have found it to be 2-3 times as effective as the literature states and the docs don't know why.

Diarrhea; dizziness; headache; joint pain; sinus inflammation; tiredness.
