Lasix should improve the breathing within the day,I'd take her back to the vets.If you are treating chf talk to your vet about ace inhibitors if she is not already on it.The belly swelling will not go down much with lasix. My 20 lb dog is on 50 mgs of lasix twice a day,it's hitting maxium dose for him but it keeps his lungs clear. There is a yahoo group called canine chf, well worth joining just to go thru the info in the files.

I would assume it won't be an instantaneous thing, and may take several days or more. You will want to encourage her to drink, and she will probably feel more like eating when she gets rid of the fluid around the heart and lungs. Why not check with your vet by phone this morning if you are still concerned? It is the weekend coming up, and you may not be able to get a hold of him if you have more questions during the weekend. It's much easier to get the answers you need during the week from your vet. Good luck.

I really need more info on why your dog is taking lasix, I wasn't aware of 50mg. they come in 20,40,80mg. oral solution 10mg.The lasix starts working on the same day unless your dog has kidney problems. Even a human doesn't take 100mg. per day, I would double check on the medicine and with the vet I am confused you are talking about the diuretic.

I would say it'll take at least a week.

If she is not eating much that is why she is not pooping.

Wishing your dog all the best.
