Default I am currently experiencing sever leg cramps, is aldactone (spironolactone) causing this?

I currently am taking aldactone (spironolactone) I was wondering if anyone knew of this causing muscle cramps. Due to this medication being potassium sparing; i wasnt sure if maybe i am having muscle cramps (mostly in legs) due to this medication or an overdose of potassium due to my dosage of 200mg a day. Thanks for your help.....

I could be. The cramps in the legs could be caused by blood clots. I would have a doctor use a dopler on your leg to see if there is a normal flow of blood getting through your legs. The dopler does not require any surgery.

Could be right.....I would call my Drs off and speak to his nurse and then she should be able to tell you if you need to come in and see the Dr.

cramps happen when there's a poor circulation of the blood.. when you think it's already severe, call your doctor..

is that leg cramps any different from muscle spasms? coz if not, then that is just a side effect of the drug. else, you might consider going to the doctor.

i have to agree with ^. the doctor is the best way to know this one. Here are some more side effects to look out for this drug:
numbness or tingly feeling;
muscle pain or weakness;
slow, fast, or uneven heartbeat;
feeling drowsy, restless, or light-headed;
urinating less than usual or not at all;
shallow breathing;
tremors, confusion; or
nausea, stoma
