As I general rule, I would say that you shouldn't drink alcohol while taking any type of medicine. But if you feel that you must have an alcoholic beverage, I would say keep it small and don't have more than one.

My research (I Googled "alcohol and antibiotics") indicates that it is safe to have one or two drinks while taking an antibiotic. You should have received a brochure along with your macrodantin which would tell you if it isn't safe. You can also phone a pharmacist and ask the same question.

Macrodantin is given for certain purposes only & accordingly I'd avoid alcohol entirely until it's completed & all the while on it replace much of your fluid intake with water...this is best for your health.

I suggest you shouldn't drink any alcohol when you're under medication because most doctors won't recommend it as it might affect the effectiveness of your medicine.
