The FDA released a statement saying that Singulair increases the risk of suicide...Do you think it should be taken off the market? Here is the article http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/27/news/com...

I would have the label changed on this med to reflect the possible risk but I believe the general consensus would be buyer (or patient) beware. Just as seen in many other meds, including SSRI's, MAOI's, and NSAID's, serious side effects have been noted and yet because they are still very effective in treatment continue to be on the market. You really have to weigh the benefits vs. the possible negative effects of any medicine before discarding it. Singulair happens to have helped many chronic asthma sufferers in controlling their asthma in conjunction with other medications. To date, there are very few asthma medications that do so with the success rate/effectiveness of Singulair. I believe that if this truly were a huge danger, where the number of suicides or deaths were imminent, the FDA would immediately enact a recall of the med. I don't see an overwhelming reason to immediately remove Singulair from the lives of patients who truly need it to survive. I would love to hear from anyone who has a different take on this. This is just my educated opinion.

Singulair happens to have helped many chronic asthma sufferers in controlling their asthma in conjunction with other medications. But try to get from a doctor advise.
