Be careful with what you choose

This painkiller has been linked to increased risks of stomach bleeding, kidney trouble, and liver damage. And according to a 2005 study, people taking 200 mg of Celebrex twice a day more than doubled their risk of dying of cardiovascular disease. Those on 400 mg twice a day more than tripled their risk.

First, what kind of back pain are you referring to. The most common kind (>90%) is basically from sore muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues. The generic name for this is lumbago.

I'll assume you mean this, and not a herniated disc.

Second, in that case, there isn't really a "cure". Lumbago is a self limited condition. That means it will get better in time on its own, it isn't really a disease that needs curing. Almost any kind of over the counter pain killer can work, as can heat or ice, stretching, massage, physiotherapy etc.

Celebrex is a special kind of NSAID in that it uses a different biochemical pathway than ibuprofen, ASA or naproxen. It is known as a "COX-2 Inhibitor" (COX stands for cyclooxygenase, which is a chemical pathway used by NSAID in their suppresion of prostaglandins)

Celebrex will work, though it is not particularly potent, and it is quite expensive relative to other options. It is not a first line treatment of common lumbago. There is no such thing as generic Celebrex as it is still under patent protection.

Celebrex is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is used to treat pain in both men and women.

There really isn't a drug that will cure back pain, but it can assist in relieving the pain.

Generic is virtually the same drug,

Hi all,

A few months ago one of my friends was suffering from severe back pains and during this, he tried several forms of treatment, but none of them provided the desired results. After, that he consulted a physiotherapist and really he got unbelievable results. So, besides taking drugs, physiotherapy treatment can be a better option. As, physiotherapy is a primary care health profession, with physical therapists (or physiotherapists) providing services to individuals and populations to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the life.

The Celebrax (Celecoxib) would certainly relieve you from the painful condition although its not a cure for a back pain. The proper diagnosis of the cause behind the pain(by using XRay or MRI of spinal cord) is necessary to implement the cure.

There is no difference between a generic drug or a branded drug in perspective of pharmacological action. If a drug fails to meet the listed composition, then the government agencies would certainly discontinue it.

That is why avoiding it is the best thing to do:

Position yourself well when lifting somethings
don't always lift heavy objects
minimize twisting motions
be healthy by eating healthy
warm up right to exercise right then cool down right
maintain a good weight
sleep in a good position
