My wife and I were using the pill and no secondary birth control and she got preggo after she took a single amoxoxcillin. Our Dr. told us that anti-biotics nullify the effects of birth control.

Apparently amoxocillin and Yasmin don't mix.

here is the equation

1anti-biotic + 1 Yasmin BC pill = 7lbs 3oz of baby

Antibiotics could interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills is by reducing the re-circulation of estrogens within the body. Antibiotics, cause the enzymes in the liver to increase the break-down of estrogens and thereby can decrease the levels of estrogens in the body and the effectiveness of the pills. This can result in unwanted pregnancy.

It is quite an information for me and many others. Some old threads are really informative rather then new ones circling around just a few topics. I have started reading some of the older posts.

Thanks michael324 for bringing out this thread from the depths.

Well this drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills; other forms of contraception may be required during the treatment period. Using a condom or other means of contraception is the best thing to do.
