Polymers of diallyldimethylammonium halides are used in a variety of applications. However due to economic considerations with these processes and due to problems in obtaining high purity monomers, the realization of these references have not been completely achieved. U.S. Pat. No. 3,461,163 discloses the preparation of diallyldimethyl
ammonium chloride (hereinafter referred to as DADMAC), a representative monomer of this group. By the use of processes similar to the one which we prefer to use in our invention, large amounts of alkali metal halide salts are formed. These salts are difficult to remove and care has been taken in the past to remove this salt formed from the monomer mixture.
