Default Yeast? Ringworm? Years?

We have a case in the family that started out looking like ringworm on the chest. The doctor said it was "yeast." Two years later, after trying everything the doctor could think of, it persisted. Looking on the Internet gave us some new ideas--such as we might now be actually dealing with a secondary bacterial infection (and indeed, it no longer was the nice circle of ringworm). So we tried two weeks of iodine, and voila - finally got rid of it.

Fast forward a year and there is another patch that looks just like ringworm, elsewhere on the chest. big - about 2.5 inches in diameter. Refuses to see a doctor about it this time.

This time around, blood glucose is elevated. Is that why this is happening?

Do we just go through all the ointments again like a couple years ago?

We have the individual on a lower carb diet now, which we hope will help. And probiotics...

:-(

Since your blood glucose is elevated, i think it is one of the reasons why it keeps on coming back. We all know that prevention is better than cure. I might suggest that you should avoid food especially sugars and sweet treats. If you don't control your sugar level, you will likely experience recurring yeast infection.

Since our bodies are designed to protect us against the takeover of microorganisms such as candida albicans, when you do have yeast infection, it is simply a big warning sign that something is WRONG inside your body and that it needs to be corrected.

. . . After I was diagnosed with systemic candida yeast infection and realizing many of my other conditions such as sinus problems, cravings for sugary foods and constant lack of energy were all coming from the same source- candida albicans overgrowth,. . .
Thank you for the link. I am curious about the bottom line. Wonder how do-able "the solution" is for an average individual.

Maybe I should drag my family member, kicking and screaming to an integrative medical doctor.

I may go ahead and buy the book mentioned, although I am leary of those types of advertisements.

Thanks again. Could you tell me more? The person already attempts to stay away from sugary foods although the sugar cravings sometimes wins out.

The biggest cause of rapid bacterial growth is the result of a lowered immune system that can cause yeast infection. This occurs when you do too much, do not get enough sleep, or are sick. Garlic is one of the natural remedies for yeast infection. You can apply garlic paste directly on the affected parts. If you do not have fresh garlic, you can dilute garlic oil along with Vitamin E oil and a few drops of coconut oil and apply this blend of oils to the affected skin. While garlic oil helps to control the infection, Vitamin E oil helps to fortify the skin and coconut oil helps to provide it with several fatty acids that help to prevent the infection from spreading.

Ryan, I do not believe any ointment on the skin, even of garlic, will help something which is, as others said, a sign of systemic illness.

I agree the elevated glucose is a major source of concern. I think any "cure" is going to take something a lot deeper and more meaningful.

We are currently learning more about foods, prebiotics and probiotics. We have already concluded that a diet like a diabetic should eat is appropriate.

btw - We did consult with a doctor who did give us the ideas about dietary and nutritional needs. Nothing is sold on this link, but it does list some supplement sources that are hypoallergenic: It's Not Mental: Hard-to-Find but Commonly Needed Hypoallergenic Supplements
