Default Is there an alternative medicine for Nizoral?

Does Nizoral come in a tablet form? I have bad dandruff and was prescribed it, but it has made my hair real frizzy and it has discolored it. Does it come in tablet form or is there an alternative?

Hi!

Firstly, try not to be anxious. Stress only adds up to flake build up.

Nizoral does work for your hair, I suppose? If so, using it properly is probably an utmost priority. For instance, how often do you use it? There are certain strengths of Nizoral that shouldn't be used so frequently.

Depending on which country you live in, the tablet form of Nizoral may be available. However, I don't think that this should be an primary option in your case. This should be reserved to more severe fungal infections. Systemic (that is affecting your whole body in general instead of just the scalp) effects is of concern when taking tablets. For instance, if your liver is weak, chances are it will only get weaker. Also, Nizoral tablets interact with so many other medicines rendering them useless. Besides, the tablet form is not available over the counter so you will have to talk first with your doctor about this.

If you have been using Nizoral shampoo the right way from the start and you are not happy with your discoloured hair, you may try other anti-dandruff shampoos. Try something with selenium sulfide for instance. You may ask your pharmacist about it.

You may also want to CONSIDER shampooing regularly, that is if the cause of your hair is just an over-active replacement of scalp skin, causing flakes and dandruff. But if it is due to dryness, frequent shampooing will only make it worse. Using Nizoral with a strong moisturising shampoos and conditioners would be ideal in this case specially if the doctor has established the fact that it is of fungal origin.

All the best! Don't worry, you're not alone!

You can apply white vinegar to your scalp twice a week at night and then wash your hair in the morning. It will help your scalp condition and your hair!

I used before a carrot soap to my scalp. Luckily, my dandruff was gone after using it.

If you want to try it, I'd suggest yogurt. It really helps kill the fungi in your scalp.
