This has become more excepted for a sleep aid. My patients take up to 300 mg a day! Usual dose I believe ie 50-150 mg. I will work to make you sleepy. Don't expect too much.....Just let it work. If you expect oo much you'll be wide awake all night. Good luck! Sleep tight!

I was on 50 mg. Nothing has ever worked better for me. It was given to me as an addition to my antidepressants during the day, because they were making it harder to sleep than usual.

As long as I took my antidepressants in the morning, I had no trouble waking up. In fact, it was easier, because I wasn't so tired after not sleeping enough. Really an awesome medication, and I highly recommend it.

Well, consulting a doctor first should always be the right thing to do as that drug can have the following side effects (go to a doctor once you have felt any of them):

Painful erection or prolonged (4 hours)
allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping
feeling light-headed, fainting;
fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or
chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling; or
problems with urination.
