Default What do you know about the drug Bactrim?

I went to the doctor's on monday and they told me I had an infection. (u.t.i) And they prescribed bactrim to me. But I'm not sure as to what the side effects of them are. Because after I take the pill I begin to get cold and start to shiver. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. And then after a few hours of taking the pill, I start to burn up and start to sweat. So I ask do you know anything about this antibiotic?

I also took Bactrim (and am currently taking it) without any side effects. I would contact your doctor immediately to ask what you should do.

I looked up bactrim online - the technical name for it is Sulfameth/Trimethoprim, and here're just a few side effects I found for it:

"Frequently Reported Side Effects of Sulfamethoxazole

sulfameth, medication, uti, legs, rash, my head, loss of appetite, sulfameth trimethoprim, fever, headache, sinus infection, trimethoprim, sleep, medicine, headaches, chills, urinary tract infection, rash on, appetite, pills, allergic reaction, dermatologist, contact, nausea, flu, fatigue, acne, paranoia, pharmacist, shortness of breath, years later, feelings, extreme pain, congestion, vomiting, severe headaches, benadryl, bladder infection, red dots, nauseous, bactrim, postings, antibiotic, stiff, staph infection, stomach pain, left arm, asap, anxiety, tabs, i didnt, dry mouth, yeast infection, doctors, short of breath, welts, appointment, sunburn, high fever, ridiculous, panic attack, antibiotics, stomach, i decided, left leg, painfull, heart palpatations, cistitis, abdominal cramps, post nasal drip, disoriented, gastro problems, exception, 3 years, realised, mild headache, silver dollar, sandpaper, wonderfully, cps, negative side effects, couple of days, dialysis, aggression, fatigue and dizziness, covers, head cold, drugs, suicide, mom, blackout, tongue, earlier this week, old fashioned, beautiful boy, testimonial, nail infection, thighs, heart burn, jawbone "

You should still talk to your doctor to be on the safe side.

It's pretty basic so you shouldn't be experiencing any ide effects like that. if you are ten you should stop using it because you might be allergic to it.

What are the possible side effects of Bactrim, aka sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim ?

Stop taking sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim and seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);

unusual bleeding or bruising; or

yellow skin or eyes.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take your medication and talk to your doctor if you experience

headache, fatigue, or dizziness;

nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, or diarrhea;

weakness; or

increased sensitivity to the sun.

Bactrim contains a combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim and is supplied in tablets and a liquid suspension. It is used to treat infections such as urinary tract infections, middle ear infections and so on.
