It's an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of common anxiety and tension and, in combination with other medications, to treat anxiety that results from physical illness. It also relieves itching from allergic reactions and can be used as a sedative before and after general anesthesia.

shellipoo is correct, it calms the itching.

It, also, is used to calm anxiety.

Be careful with using it. It can make you very drowsy.

Atarax is used for treatment of skin rashes. If I am not mistaken it calms the ITCH, sort of like benadryl, except way more potent.

Atarax or Hydroxyzine is used to treat severe itching. It works also as an antihistamine so it will alleviate some of the psoriasis from worsening - somewhat like Benadryl, but stronger.

Did the doctor not give you a cream? Sometimes it is okay to treat the psoriasis with Hydrocortisone cream (over the counter). BUT, don't use the cream over 3-5 days.

Atarax is an antihistamine which is used for blocking body's natural substance histamine which usually produced during allergic reactions like itching. This is also used to release anxiety and acts as a pain killer. It is taken orally two to three times a day according to doctor prescription
